FC Goa has confirmed that Iker Guarrotxena will continue to don the orange through the 2025-26 season, following a one-year extension of his contract. The Spanish forward, who first joined the Gaurs in the 2022-23 campaign, has become a vital figure in the club’s recent resurgence.
The 32-year-old striker led the scoring charts in his debut season and finished as the club’s most impactful player last season with 14 goal involvements, the highest for FC Goa. As the team eyes continental success, Guarrotxena is expected to be at the heart of its attacking force.
“In Goa and at FC Goa, I’ve found my home,” said Guarrotxena. “There’s no better club to be ambitious with and to fight for. We’ve built a strong group of friends in the dressing room, and with that unity, any goal feels within reach. The club’s values match mine perfectly.”
His influence on the field has not gone unnoticed by Head Coach Manolo Marquez, who hailed him as “a complete player, who is both decisive and dangerous.”
Guarrotxena’s standout moment in 2024 came during the Kalinga Super Cup, where he scored a hat-trick that propelled FC Goa into the quarter-finals. He finished the tournament as the joint top scorer alongside teammate Borja Herrera, and played a crucial role in the club’s qualification for the AFC Champions League 2.

FC Goa’s Director of Football, Lokesh Bherwani, expressed his confidence in the decision to retain the Spaniard:
“We are delighted to have Iker with us for a third season now. Throughout his time in the club, Iker has consistently contributed to the team’s success. He exemplifies what it truly means to represent FC Goa through his relentless commitment and unwavering desire to help the team succeed. Over the last two years he has embraced the culture of Goa, the fans, and the values of the club, and in doing so, earned the respect of everyone at the club.”
Having begun his professional career in 2011, Guarrotxena brings with him a wealth of experience from top leagues across Europe. His seamless adaptation to Indian football and his leadership within the dressing room have made him a pillar in FC Goa’s evolving setup.
