Rosary Higher Secondary School, Navelim, celebrated World Konkani Day on April 9, 2026, with a series of cultural programmes and competitions held on campus. The programme commenced at 10:00 a.m. and continued through the afternoon.
The celebration held added significance as it marked the 80th death anniversary of Shenoy Goembab, regarded as the father of modern Konkani literature. The event paid tribute to his contribution to the Konkani language and cultural identity of Goa.
The programme was organised by the school’s Konkani Department under the theme “Amchem Goem, Amchi Sanskritai” (My Goa, My Culture), with support from the Parent-Teacher Association.
Mrs. Varsha Naik attended as the chief guest. In her address, she said she appreciated the institution’s efforts in promoting the Konkani language and preserving Goan heritage.

The event featured a range of student competitions, including poster-making based on Konkani proverbs, coconut craft, and preparation of Goan sweet dishes. Students also presented displays of traditional Goan occupations, showcasing local livelihoods and skills. A separate competition on Goan attire was organised for the staff.
Folk dances performed by students formed a key part of the programme, reflecting traditional Goan culture and adding to the overall celebrations on campus.
