Shree Damodar Vidyalaya High School emerged champions of the South Zone in the Under-14 President’s Cup cricket tournament organised by the Goa Cricket Association, after defeating St. Joseph High School, Mormugao by eight wickets at the MCC Ground in Margao on Saturday.
Batting first, St. Joseph High School were bowled out for 124 runs in 24.3 overs. Gandhik Satardekar top-scored with 27 runs, while Aarav Kerkar added 16. However, the side struggled to build momentum as wickets fell at regular intervals, restricting their total despite contributions from extras.
Shree Damodar’s bowling attack proved decisive, led by Mohammad Ehtesham, who claimed five wickets, including a hat-trick. He conceded just 12 runs in 4.3 overs, turning the match firmly in his team’s favour. He was supported by Abhisek Lamani and captain Rumaan Mulam, who picked up two wickets each.

In response, Shree Damodar Vidyalaya chased down the target comfortably, reaching 128 for the loss of two wickets in 20 overs. Usman Ghani (30) and Abhiyan (15) laid a steady foundation at the top. Captain Rumaan Mulam remained unbeaten on 39, while Mohammad Ehtesham capped off his all-round performance with an unbeaten 37.
The pair put together an unbroken partnership for the third wicket to guide their team to victory. For St. Joseph High School, Pranav was the only bowler to make an impact, taking two wickets.
