Former South Goa Mahila Congress District President Mamata Maben resigned from the Congress and joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) at a ceremony in Panaji.

Maben joined the party in the presence of AAP Goa President Valmiki Naik and Senior Vice President Sandesh Teleikar Dessai.

Explaining her decision to quit the Congress, Maben said she felt sidelined in key decisions concerning her own constituency of Ponda. She questioned the internal functioning of the party and raised concerns over the absence of democratic processes within it.

“I was not involved in the decisions made by Congress in my own constituency Ponda, so what is the use of working in Congress and as a South Goa Mahila President. If democracy is not inside among the party how Congress will ensure democracy for all Goans,” Maben said.

AAP leaders welcomed Maben into the party, stating that her experience and grassroots connections would help strengthen the party’s outreach in South Goa.
