The Public Works Department (PWD), Government of Goa, has announced phase-wise night closures of the old Borim Bridge for essential repair and rehabilitation work beginning October 11, 2025. The works include installation and replacement of bearings, shifting of temporary trusses, and resurfacing.

According to a notification issued by Executive Engineer Shri Satyendra Bhobe of the PWD Works Division XV (NH), Ponda, the bridge will be closed during night hours over multiple weekends to facilitate critical activities under the supervision of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways.

The notification further states that heavy vehicles will be prohibited from using the bridge from 8 p.m. on October 11 to 6 a.m. on November 2, 2025, to enable the execution of the works safely. Additional closures for laying fresh bituminous surfacing will be announced later.

During the closure, traffic between Ponda and Margao will be diverted along alternate routes in consultation with the Traffic Police. The PWD has assured that prominent signage indicating diversions and no-parking zones will be placed by the contracting agency, along with all required road safety measures as per the guidelines of the Indian Roads Congress (IRC) and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).
