Patriotism and harmony resonated through the halls of St. Michael’s Convent High School, Anjuna, where Sadbhav organized a Sadbhavna Programme on Independence Day under the theme “One India, Many Faiths.” The spirit of Muhammad Iqbal’s timeless song “Saare Jahan Se Achcha” echoed as participants were urged to love the country, honour its culture and heritage, and live in unity with fellow citizens.
Fr. Elvis Fernandes, convenor of Sadbhav, reminded the gathering that “all faiths teach us to do good and work together for the common good.” His address underlined the values of harmony and integrity as the foundation of a diverse and strong nation.
The highlight of the programme was the reflections shared by Ms. Nazma Banu Shaikh, Ms. Mahima Simepurushkar, and Ms. Anita D’Souza, who spoke on the theme “One India, Many Faiths.” Their words encouraged tolerance, mutual respect, and unity as guiding principles for India’s progress.

The gathering was warmly welcomed by Sr. Alvita Gurjao, Headmistress of St. Michael’s Convent High School, joined by distinguished guests including Mrs. Bemvinda Dias, Headmistress of Sacred Heart of Jesus High School, and Rev. Fr. Santiago Fernandes, Parish Priest of St. Michael’s Church, Anjuna. The presence of students, teachers, PTA members, parents, and people of various faiths made the event truly inclusive.
Adding colour and energy were patriotic dances performed by students of participating schools, along with a vibrant presentation by the youth of St. Michael’s Parish, Anjuna. These performances, warmly applauded by the audience, not only entertained but carried messages of solidarity and pride in the nation.

As tokens of encouragement, participants received certificates, while speakers were presented with mementos in appreciation of their contributions.
