CD Fountainhead and Desserts N More Avengers registered victories in the semifinals of the GSB Unity Cup 3.0 cricket tournament to book their places in the final. Both matches were played on Saturday at the Dr Rajendra Prasad Stadium in Margao.
In the first semifinal, CD Fountainhead defeated K K Strikers by eight runs. Batting first, Fountainhead scored 138 for nine in 20 overs. Vikrant Prabhu (35), Aditya Prabhugaonkar (30) and Saeesh Prabhu Desai (17) contributed to the total.
Chasing a target of 139, K K Strikers were bowled out for 130 in 18.5 overs. Aditya Dalal played a quick innings of 50 off 16 balls but lacked support from the other batters. Pranav Biche delivered a decisive spell with the ball, taking three wickets for 12 runs in 2.5 overs.
In the second semifinal, Desserts N More Avengers defeated Dempo Challengers by 21 runs. Batting first, the Avengers scored 164 for four in 20 overs. Captain Kaushal Hattangadi remained unbeaten on 53, while Pankaj Naik (37) and Smit Dalvi (27) added valuable runs.
Chasing a target of 165, Dempo Challengers reached 143 for nine in their allotted 20 overs. Sumiran Amonkar (44) and Vibhav Pai (41) offered resistance but could not guide the team to victory. Kaushal Hattangadi also impressed with the ball, claiming three wickets for 18 runs in four overs.
With the semifinal victories, CD Fountainhead and Desserts N More Avengers will face each other in the final under floodlights on Sunday.
Aditya Prabhugaonkar was named Desserts N More Player of the Match in the first semifinal, while Pranav Biche received the Kamat Realty Hero of the Match award.
In the second semifinal, Kaushal Hattangadi was awarded Desserts N More Player of the Match, while Swapnil Kakodkar received the Kamat Realty Hero of the Match honour.
