The Goa Forward Party (GFP) on Tuesday announced the launch of the first phase of its statewide membership drive from May 25, while also unveiling a major organisational restructuring ahead of the upcoming elections in Goa.
The announcement was made following a State Executive Meeting chaired by GFP President Vijai Sardesai. Senior office bearers and party leaders present at the meeting included Senior Leader and General Secretary Mohandas Lolienkar, General Secretary (Organisation) Durgadas Kamat, Joint Secretary Vikas Bhagat, Executive Member Rajesh Kalangutkar, General Secretary Prashant Naik, North Goa President Deepak Kalangutkar, Vice President Dilip Prabhudesai, Executive Member Nisa Subedar, Kadar Shah, Dr Lorraine Dias and others.
Addressing the media after the meeting, GFP General Secretary Mohandas Lolienkar said the party would begin the first phase of its statewide outreach programme later this month as part of efforts to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level.
Lolienkar said the party intends to expand its reach across Goa as the state moves closer to the next round of elections.
“We have strong reports that certain parties are brought in Goa from other states to split votes and we will not allow this to happen,” Lolienkar said.
In a significant organisational move, GFP General Secretary (Organisation) Durgadas Kamat announced that all Block Committees and Cells of the party had been dissolved as part of a wider restructuring exercise.
© GFP MediaKamat said the party plans to reconstitute all 12 Block Committees during the first phase of the reorganisation process by Goa Statehood Day.
According to party leaders, the restructuring is aimed at strengthening the GFP’s grassroots network and preparing the organisation for upcoming political challenges in the state.
GFP’s focus is on strengthening its organisational base ahead of the elections, with party leaders stating that the restructuring exercise was aimed at building a stronger grassroots network across Goa centred on regional identity and Goemkarponn.
