
Curtorim Gymkhana, one of Goa’s oldest and most active sports institutions is set to host it’s annual Curtorim Villagers Cup 2025, a 9-a-side inter-village football tournament beginning on August 10th, at the St. Alex Church ground, culminating with the final on September 14.
Founded in 1964, Curtorim Gymkhana has built a solid reputation not only for promoting football but also for being active in cultural and social outreach. Its long-running summer camps for children between the ages of five and sixteen are well-regarded in the community, and its participation in GFA leagues and other inter-village tournaments across the state continues to build sporting awareness in the region.
This year’s Villagers Cup will see 16 teams compete in a straight knockout format. Parish Youth, Nuvem will open the tournament against Sporting Club of Davorlim in what is expected to be a high-octane match.
Also in the fray are Navelim Sporting Club, Guardian Angel Sports Club, Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda, Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club, United Club of Verna, F.C. Siolim, Raia Sporting Club, Betalbatim Sporting Club, Fr. Agnelo, SCC Paroda, Shiroda Youth Club, Calangute Association, CAC Cansaulim, Cuncolim Union, and the hosts, Curtorim Gymkhana.
Matches will begin at 4:30 pm daily. The group stages will run until August 19, with the quarter-finals scheduled between August 22 and 26. The semi-finals will be played on August 28 and 29, leading up to the grand finale on September 14.
Trophies and cash prizes await the winners and runners-up, who will receive ₹60,000 and ₹40,000 respectively. A ‘Man of the Match’ award will be presented at the end of each game along with a cash prize, and several other awards are expected to be announced during the course of the tournament.
The 2025 edition is being backed by prominent local supporters. Chief among them are Shri Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, Hon’ble MLA of Curtorim Constituency, Shri Rui Menezes, Ex-Sarpanch of VP Curtorim, and businessman Shri Jacob Ataide. The tournament is also supported by the villagers of Curtorim and the club’s longstanding well-wishers.
