Dempo Cricket Club piled on 412/5 on Day 1 against Chowgule SC. Dhooper and Kauthankar centuries power dominant performance.

Dempo Cricket Club posted a commanding total of 412 for 5 in 89 overs at stumps on the opening day of the Goa Premier Division League 2025-26 final against Chowgule Sports Club, after opting to bat first at the GCA Academy ground in Porvorim.

The decision to bat first after winning the toss proved effective, despite an early setback. Dempo were reduced to 11 for 2 after Aaditya Kota and Sarthak Bhike were dismissed cheaply, as Chowgule’s bowlers maintained disciplined lines to apply early pressure.

The innings was stabilised by a crucial 139-run partnership between Abhinav Tej Rana and Aman Dhooper for the third wicket. Rana played a composed knock of 70 off 93 balls, striking 8 fours and 2 sixes, before being dismissed.

Following Rana’s departure, Dhooper shifted gears and adopted an aggressive approach. He went on to score 124 runs off 166 balls, including 12 fours and 5 sixes, ensuring Dempo maintained momentum through the middle phase of the innings.

Dhooper then combined with captain Snehal Kauthankar for a 130-run partnership for the fourth wicket, placing Dempo firmly in control of the match. Kauthankar anchored the innings with an unbeaten 136 off 148 balls, laced with 18 boundaries, and remained at the crease till stumps.

After Rahul Mehta’s dismissal for 19, Kauthankar found solid support in wicketkeeper Jeevan Chittem. The duo stitched together an unbroken 90-run stand for the sixth wicket, taking Dempo past the 400-run mark and denying Chowgule any opportunity to claw back into the contest. Chittem remained unbeaten on 39, while extras contributed 20 runs to the total.

For Chowgule Sports Club, Shubham Tari and captain Darshan Misal claimed two wickets each, while Pradyumna Atpadkar picked up one. The rest of the bowling attack struggled to contain the scoring, failing to break partnerships despite extended spells.

With a strong total already on the board, Dempo hold a clear advantage heading into Day 2 of the three-day day-night final being played with a pink ball.
