The fourth round of the Goa Premier Division League, organised by the Goa Cricket Association, got underway on Sunday with Chowgule Sports Club, Margao Cricket Club and Dempo Cricket Club taking early control of their respective matches.
At the Chicalim SAG Ground, Chowgule Sports Club secured a first-innings lead after dismissing Panjim Gymkhana for 101 runs. Shadab Khan top-scored with 45 for Panjim Gymkhana, but Shubham Desai led the bowling effort for Chowgule with figures of 7 for 29.
In reply, Chowgule posted 213 runs, with contributions from Madhur (42), Felix Alemao (37) and Shubham Tari (36 not out). Mohit Redkar impressed with the ball for Panjim Gymkhana, claiming 6 wickets for 60 runs. In their second innings, Panjim Gymkhana were 18 for 2 in five overs and still trailing.
At the GCA Academy Ground in Porvorim, Margao Cricket Club put up a strong total of 293 runs against Salgaocar Cricket Club. Deepraj Gaonkar (81) and Umang Gosavi (71) anchored the innings, while Aryan Narvekar added 39 runs. Ruthvik Naik was the standout bowler for Salgaocar with 6 wickets for 54 runs.
Salgaocar Cricket Club were 47 for 2 in 12 overs in reply, still trailing by a significant margin at stumps.
Meanwhile, at the NAPEX Ground, Dempo Cricket Club gained the advantage over Geno Sports Club. Geno were bowled out for 121 runs, with Manthan Khutkar scoring 29. Rahul Mehta, Abhinav Tej Rana and Samit Aryan Mishra picked up two wickets each for Dempo.
Dempo responded with 129 for 3 in 48 overs to take the lead. Sarthak Bhike scored a steady 54, while Abhinav Tej Rana contributed 36 runs.
All three matches will continue over the next two days.
