The third round of the Goa Premier Division League 2025–26 began on Tuesday with all three matches producing competitive contests. While Salgaocar Cricket Club and Chowgule Sports Club took early control of their matches, the clash between Margao Cricket Club and Geno Sports Club remained evenly poised at the end of Day One.
At the NAPEX ground in Sankhali, Salgaocar Cricket Club put up a dominant batting display against Panjim Gymkhana. Azaan Thota’s 53 provided early momentum before Shaantanu Nevagi and captain Yash Kasvankar stabilised the innings with a crucial partnership. Nevagi scored 110, while Kasvankar remained unbeaten on 100. Salgaocar finished the day at 318 for 4 in 88 overs. Vijesh Prabhudesai picked up two wickets, while Amit Yadav and Mohit Redkar claimed one each.
At the GCA Academy ground in Porvorim, Chowgule Sports Club held the advantage against Dempo Cricket Club. Chowgule posted 226 in their first innings, with Shivendra Bhujbal scoring 82 and Madhur adding 52 after early setbacks. In response, Dempo struggled and were restricted to 109, with Darshan Misal claiming five wickets and Shubham Desai taking four. Chowgule, in their second innings, were 16 for 3 in 7 overs, holding a lead of 133 runs.
Meanwhile, at the GCA ground in Sanguem, Margao Cricket Club scored 238 in their first innings. Aryan Narvekar led the effort with 84, supported by Chigurupati Venkata (41) and Anuj Yadav (24). Geno Sports Club made a steady start in reply, reaching 28 without loss in 4 overs. Veer Yadav (18 not out) and Manthan Khutkar (10 not out) remained unbeaten, with Geno trailing by 210 runs.
The second day’s play is expected to be decisive across all three matches.
