The sixth edition of the Ramakant Verlekar Champions Trophy 2026 concluded with a one-sided final as Panjim Gymkhana Members League (PGML) Kings defeated Margao Cricket Club (MCL) Superstars under floodlights at the Rajendra Prasad Stadium on Saturday.
The victory marked PGML Kings’ fourth consecutive title in the annual T20 tournament.
Despite expectations of a closely fought contest, the match turned decisively in favour of PGML early on. Batting first, MCL Superstars struggled to build momentum after losing two wickets within the opening 14 balls. The situation worsened when PGML captain Mukhtar Kadri struck twice in successive deliveries, reducing MCL to 23 for 3.
The batting side failed to recover from the early collapse. Two run-outs further dented their innings, leaving them under pressure throughout. Captain Amod Borkar offered resistance with a 27-run effort, but lack of support meant MCL could only post a modest total of 112.
In reply, PGML Kings began cautiously but soon took control of the chase. Early breakthroughs by Siddharth Ghanekar and Vikrant Prabhu briefly checked their progress, while a sharp catch by Aditya Angle added to the pressure.
However, a dropped chance in the slips proved costly. Avishkar More capitalised on the reprieve and, along with Abhijit Bhandare, steadied the innings. The pair ensured the required rate remained within reach.
Avishkar accelerated midway through the innings, striking a quick half-century. His 51 off 26 balls guided PGML Kings to the target in just 15 overs, sealing a comfortable victory.

At the presentation ceremony, Goa Cricket Association treasurer Sayyed Abdul handed over the trophy. Avishkar More was named Man of the Match and Best Batsman, while Mukhtar Kadri received the Best Bowler award. Heramb Parab was adjudged Impact Player, and Aditya Angle was named Best Fielder.
The Sunita Verlekar Foundation also awarded a cricket scholarship to young cricketer Uzma Shaikh as part of its initiative to support emerging talent.
Officials noted the tournament’s continued role in promoting cricket in Goa, bringing together experienced players and young prospects in a competitive setting.
