In a strong and unapologetic press briefing, the Benaulim Block Congress Committee came out swinging against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its MLA from Benaulim, accusing the party of political doublespeak and hypocrisy.

The Congress Committee questioned the AAP MLA’s silence over a key issue: “Is there a threat to the MLA if he contests on an AAP ticket?” They said the evasive response highlights the AAP’s growing discomfort and lack of transparency.

“AAP leaders keep calling us the ‘bigger devils’, but if that’s their belief, why are they now seeking an alliance with us?” asked Keith Gracias, President of the Benaulim block. Drawing comparisons with Delhi’s political landscape, the statement noted that AAP’s credibility has steadily eroded, citing judicial custody for Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal in the liquor scam, prolonged jail time for his deputy, and national outrage over the extravagant Sheesh Mahal.

Bluntly rejecting any possibility of an alliance, the Committee stated, “Congress is not looking for crutches. Our hand is strong and steady. We don’t need AAP to hold our hand; we stand firm with the people of Goa, especially in Benaulim.”

Highlighting the contradiction in AAP’s messaging, the Committee said, “In Delhi, Kejriwal denies wanting an alliance. In Benaulim, his MLA is feeling the heat and singing a different tune. Which version of AAP are we to believe?”

The Congress body reiterated its resolve to contest all future elections independently, asserting it has the grassroots support necessary to face the 2027 elections without external help. “AAP cannot win 2027 on its own. Their desperation is evident—they want to piggyback on Congress,” the Committee declared.

Calling on voters to reject political opportunism and support a party with a “legacy of service,” the Benaulim Block Congress Committee concluded, “Congress will continue to fight for Goa with courage and without compromise.”
