In a move underscoring a shift toward people-driven governance, several former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) office bearers — Paul Lobo, Wilfred Fernandes, Adv. Byron Rodrigues, former Deputy Sarpanch Rinku Lobo, and social worker Saturnino Rodrigues, among others — have joined the Indian National Congress, choosing what they described as “people’s politics over publicity politics.”
The induction took place in the presence of South Goa MP Viriato Fernandes, Senior Vice President M. K. Shaikh, GPCC President Savio D’Silva, General Secretary Valerio Sequeira,, IYC Working President Mahesh, and Benaulim Block President Keith Gracias, alongside other senior party leaders. The group received a warm welcome into the Congress fold, marking what leaders called a reaffirmation of Goa’s commitment to inclusive, secular, and transparent politics.
Their decision, party sources said, reflects growing public faith in the Congress vision — one rooted in the everyday concerns of Goans rather than in optics. It also highlights the frustration among grassroots workers over AAP’s “publicity-first” approach, which many feel has failed to deliver meaningful change on the ground.
